Friday, March 3, 2006 -- Sales of existing homes rose to 6,756 in February, a nine per cent increase over the same month last year, TREB President John Meehan announced today. "The Toronto resale market is accelerating nicely as we move towards Spring," the President said.
Mr. Meehan further noted that February's performance was the second best for the month ever recorded and up 47 per cent from January, which is in line with seasonal trends.
On the pricing front, the average in February rose to $353,928, a six per cent increase over both February 2005 and January's figure of $332,687. The median price told much the same story, rising six per cent to $298,000 over $281,000 recorded during last Feburary, and up three per cent over January 2006.
Breaking down the total, 2,524 sales were reported in TREB’s 28 West districts and averaged $333,969; 1,219 sales were reported in the 14 Central districts and averaged $465,484; 1,344 sales were reported in the 23 North districts and averaged $377,795; and 1,669; sales were reported in TREB’s 21 East districts and averaged $283,414.

Strong Start to New Year
Monday, February 13, 2006 -- The new year got off to a strong start with 1,174,981 square feet of space leased in January, Commercial Council Chair Ron Ridsdill announced today. This figure is significantly higher (56 per cent) than the January 2005 result of 764,190 square feet. It's also the best January performance since 2002."
Prices for leased industrial properties continued to fluctuate in the $5.00 to $6.00 sfn range, up marginally to $5.39 sfn from December's $5.36 average, and up seven per cent over the $5.00 sfn recorded during January of 2005.
Sales Market Highlights
There were 49 total sales, and 32 sales of Industrial properties in all size categories which averaged $96.41 per square foot. This compares to the $59.75 per square foot recorded through non-MLS sources.

The average rent for 2-bedroom units reached $1,760 during September to December 2005. The majority of Leased transactions (1,416) took place in Central and parts of North York areas. The majority of Townhouse Leases occurred in Mississauga North.
