Fluorescent fixture hums
- Loose ballast wires
1. Check wiring diagram to ensure ballast wiring is correct. 2. If wiring is correct, turn off circuit, remove wire nuts and check for connections. 3. Secure the wire nuts and turn circuit back on.
- Wrong ballast
1. If humming started after new ballast was installed, then it might not match fixture type or wattage. 2. Check and replace.
- Defective ballast
1. Replace ballast

Lamp Flicker
- Improper tube installation
1. Replace tube. Remember, the new tube may go flicking for some time after installation.
- Tube nearly worn out.
1. Tube has blackened ends and the lamp flickers. Replace the lamp.
- Oxide built-up on tube pins
1. Rotate the tube in the holder once or twice to remove oxide from the pins.

Lights blink ON and OFF
- Defective tube
1. Replace tube.
- Defective ballast
1. Replace ballast.
- Loose connections
1. Turn off the circuit. 2. Remove the cover to expose the ballast and wires. 3. Remove wire nuts, check connections, reinstall wire nuts, turn the circuit back ON.
- Lamp not properly seated
1. Reset the tube in the socket ensuring all pins are fully engaged in the socket.
- Tube pins bent
1. Straighten the pins using long nose pliers, sand them slightly. 2. Wipe dirt from the pins, insert the pins into the socket.

Warm or Hot cover plate of Receptacle
- 1. Tighten loose connections.
2. Verify load and connected appliances. 3. (or) Replace receptacle.
